Lineup and Details for Lost in Music w/ Lindstrom (LIVE) & Natasha Kitty Katt
Lost in Music brings in the sounds of Norway, Scotland… and Manchester as they mark their first birthday in September.
Lost in Music turns one in style on Saturday 22 September 2018, as they welcome Norwegian nu-disco godfather, Hans-Peter Lindstrøm, leader of the nu-breed of disco DJs and resident at Liverpool Disco Festival, Natasha Kitty Katt and head honcho of Mancunian record label, Sprechen, Chris Massey, to Joshua Brooks (106 Princess Street, Manchester, M1 6NG).
Heading up the stellar line up is an extremely rare LIVE appearance by Lindstrøm, who is returning to the city for the first time since appearing at the Parklife Festival in 2013.
Like one of his endlessly building tracks, Hans-Peter Lindstrøm is only moving
further upwards. The Norwegian space-disco wizard’s new EP, Windings, is three
tracks of that now-classic sound closely associated with Lindstrøm’s name: skyward
synths, effervescent rhythms, and melodies that spiral beautifully into the great
unknown. This is Lindstrøm in the zone—and if you’ve been paying close attention
over the last decade, it’s a zone he’s never left.
Recorded over the past year, Windings represents Lindstrøm’s latest crystallization
of the aesthetic that the greater world was introduced to on the 2006 compilation It’s
a Feedelity Affair, as well as the tangy pop of 2012’s masterful Smalhans. This isn’t
to say Lindstrøm's repeating himself—far from it, in fact. Windings finds our
arpeggiator-obsessed hero refining an aesthetic that already sounded perfect—a
zenith that, much like the music itself, hits new peaks even when it seems that
there’s no more ceiling to breach.
Next up on the bill is Edinburgh’s own Natasha Kitty Kat making her Manchester debut. Natasha has been lighting up dancefloors across the globe with her energetic and eclectic brand of underground disco. With recent releases on Tribe, Ghetto Disco, Masterworks Music, Hot Digits and Midnight Riot, Natasha has also solidly entrenched herself in the top tier of modern disco producers. Not only a prolific producer, Natasha also holds down a number of prestigious residencies including the Southport Weekender, Liverpool Disco Festival and Suncebeat Festival in Croatia.
Chris Massey is a man who needs little introduction to the clubbers of the rainy city. Main man behind the phenomenal Sprechen label and with tracks also released on Paper Recordings and recently releasing the Sheroes EP, a duet with fellow Mancunian, DJ Paulette on Yam Who’s? Black Riot label. In addition, Chris is a proven DJ having played up and down the country, as well as regular festival appearances across Europe. Chris marks his debut appearance for Lost in Music.
Completing the DJ element of the first birthday are residents Marco Giannini and Reeta.
To mark the special occasion of Lindstrøm’s long-awaited return to Manchester, Joshua Brooks will be hosting an exclusive screening and Q&A of Northern Disco Lights: The Rise & Rise of Norwegian Dance Music prior to the first birthday proceedings on the 22 September.
Released to widespread acclaim in 2016 with screenings globally. The film tells the untold story of a group of teenagers in the arctic city of Tromsø, who set off a chain of events that would go on to transform their country. To escape the boredom of growing up in a remote outpost they created their own music scene, setting up radio stations, parties, building synthesizers and making tunes. Word spread as like-minded souls recognised the call to arms and inspired a generation of kids who would go on to change dance music and Norway forever. The screening and Q&A will be limited to strictly 100 places. The screening perfectly compliments what is already destined to be a very special evening.
Tickets for the first party, including an extremely limited number of £1 tickets are available now on Skiddle.
